Several of us stopped to take pictures of this golden flock of trees. It literally hit me as leaf sunshine and I turned around to try and capture it on film (or chip) but, of course, there is no way to do it justice.
This is the land of ponds and lakes (not counting the GREAT Lakes).
Today I passed a grocery store whose "beer, booze and bullets"...made me a little nervous! There was the restaurant Up Chuck's. And in Duluth there is a coffee shop called "Jitters".
The foodstuffs being grown here are wild rice and pumpkins. I loved this pumpkin display in the parking lot of a furniture store.
Well, the weather had dictated my route today again. I didn't start until noon because there was pea soup fog and raining. My saving grace was that the fog, although it didn't lift completely, did allow me to take some interesting leaf color changes. It was fascinating, really. One mile would be completely changed and the next would have almost no changes at all. It was a beautiful ride.

I found a room at the Ramada Inn with all the Kiwanis. On the 7th floor overlooking the lake.
I am spending the night in Marquette, Mi...yup, still in Mich. Big state. Marquette is a pretty little two with at least two universities. There are lots of peoplewalking, running, biking, in line skating and surfing!
The water was calm and the reflections of the trees were fun to try and capture.
The refuge consists of all these interconnected ponds with little islands.
The trumpeter swans are migrating through and in one of the ponds there were 7 wood ducks tucked in among them.
