I had a wonderful visit with Katie and Ray Honerlah on Monday evening. They purchased another one of their famous fixer uppers on Magnolia with a sliver view of the sound. When they bought the house there was only one tree in the front yard and nothing in the back. It is now a gradener's paradise filled with, among other things, the most interesting Jdifferent varieties of Japanese maples. They have created three different sitting areas in their back yard. The inside of the house has Katie's signature touches. The colors are soothing shades of green. The art is wonderful and her needlepoint is scattered throughout the house...those pieces were like visiting old friends.
Ray prepared dinner...a shrimp stirfry with basmati rice and fresh pineapple for desert. I had a wonderful time. They are going to be in Portland for the next few days and will be joining me at the riverhouse for brunch on Saturday.
It was so exciting to see them that I forgot to take any pictures.
This morning I was reading an article on the Andy Warhol show at the Brooklyn Museum. It covers the last ten years of his life as an artist. It is thought that he produced over 3500 works during this period of time. It is hard for me to imagine that level of productivity! He moved away from much of the pop art that had brought him fame in the 60's and 70's and went back to his earlier roots. It is felt that some of his best work was produced during this period of time but most of it relatively unknown.
