Bedtime Reading

  • Robert Scoble/Shel Israel: Naked Conversations
Very interesting book discussing how blogs are change the way businesses talk with customers. (***)
  • Michael Ondaatje: Divisadero
I love everything this author writes. He has the heart of a poet and so his writing is lyrical, evocative and sensual. This story takes place in the 1970's in Northern California. He explores the complexities of familial relationships while moving through the landscapes of Nevada and France. As always his characters are fascinating and skillfully wrought. (*****)
  • Joyce Carol Oates: The Gravedigger's Daughter
Rebecca, the daughter of a immigrant gravedigger, is the topic of this Oates book. It takes place at the end of WW II. She brings her considerable skill at character development and plot to this book. I always find her books a fascinating read. (****)
  • Ian McEwan: On Chesil Beach
McEwan brings his skill at dialog and tightly written prose to the topic of the wedding night of a musician and history student. (***)
